The Lancaster Parks and Recreation Department has many athletic opportunities for youth and adults in Lancaster and surrounding communities. Programs include baseball, basketball, soccer, softball and football; along with tournaments in various sports. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate.

Winter Basketball League


City of Lancaster and Metro Basketball Association presents the 2017 Winter Basketball League. Youth attending Lancaster ISD elementary will have a chance to represent their school by participating on a team with their classmates. Ages are 4U, 6U, 8U, 10U,  and 12U. Lancaster Soccer League

The City of Lancaster are proud to offer our NEW soccer league in partnership with Challenger Sports. Professional Coaches from the Challenger Soccer Academy are coming to teach players the fundamental skills they need to take their game to the next level within a development league concept here in Lancaster.

The league will run for 6 weeks in spring, throughout the months of March and April, 2017. All players will receive 6 practices from Challenger Sports professional coaches on Thursday evenings within their respective age division. This is a co-ed league suitable for boys and girls of all ability levels aged 3 – 14yrs.

There will be voluntary coaching positions available for all teams in each age division. Challenger Sports will be holding a free NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) coaching clinic in the run up to the spring season for all parents coaches interested. Volunteer coaches will be welcome to hold additional practices to the Thursday skills practice delivered by Challenger Sports coaches.

All teams will participate in 6 games to be held on Saturday/Sunday afternoons at the soccer fields.

Practice Dates: Thursdays, March 23rd – April 27th, 2017 (6 Weeks)

  • Game Dates: Weekends of March 25th/26th – April 29th/30th, 2017 (6 Weeks)
  • Rainout Information: Any rained out practices or games will be made up using an additional week.

Jr. Mavs and Lady Mavs


Developmental Basketball for young basketball players. The program will provide instructions on the fundamental of the games. the program is year around with a competitive season January through February.

Spring/Summer Baseball


Monday Night Baseball is a great program that allows all interested Lancaster youth the opportunity to learn the game of baseball. MNB is free to the public and welcomes all ages and talent levels. Join us, year round, every Monday at Royce Clayton Field (Community Park) at 6:00pm for an hour of training. This program runs during the off season of the Lancaster RBI Program.

Lancaster Swim Team


Lancaster TigerSharks swim all the time so be careful!!! Lancaster's City Swim Team is coed and for all ages. WSI Certified Head Coach Melvin Brown keeps swimmers proficient in all competitive strokes while developing speed, quality and endurance. The Yellow & Blue Tiger Sharks practice and hold try outs every Monday & Wednesday, with a home and away travel schedule. The TigerSharks are a TAAF competitive team. They compete and train at the LRC Pool with meets statewide.

Volunteers Needed

We are always looking for volunteer youth coaches to work with the children in our community! Make a difference in the lives of our youth by signing up to coach a youth baseball, soccer or basketball team. Experience with the sport is helpful, but not necessary. All volunteers must pass a criminal background check.
