The person surrendering the animal must be a Lancaster resident with acceptable forms of proof: driver’s license or water bill. There is a $20.00 surrender fee per animal and we are unable to guarantee adoption of the animal.

Have you seen the dog in this area before? If yes, do you know the pet owner or location that the dog came from? Please provide a description of the dog. Is it wearing a collar? Provide your name and phone number. All information provided is confidential and is needed in case the animal control officers need more information.

Are you in a safe location, away from the dog right now? How is the dog being aggressive? Barking is not aggression, it means the animal is protecting its territory. Do not run from a dog, simply walk away. If the dog is attempting to get into your yard or house or trying to bite someone, call 911 immediately.

Does the animal belong to you? Where is the animal located? There is a $30.00 fee assessed for pick-up. Fees should be paid prior to pick-up. The animal should be placed in a heavy duty black trash bag and set out by the curb. Lancaster animal control does not remove livestock, cows, or horses.Animal Control

Provide your name and address. Provide a description of the animal. Does the animal belongs to you? Animal Control does not pick up surrenders. Surrendered animals must be brought to the shelter and there is a surrender fee of $20.
