Christmas Parade & Festival:

62nd Annual Christmas Parade

The holiday season is just around the corner and now is the time to submit your application to participate in the 62nd Annual Lancaster Christmas Parade. The theme this year is "A Storybook Christmas". The parade will take place on Saturday, December 12, 2015; 4:30 p.m. beginning at Lancaster's Historic Town Square traveling North on Dallas Avenue concluding at the Lancaster Recreation Center.

The parade entry fee is donation of a new unwrapped toy or at least 4 non-perishable food items to benefit the Lancaster Outreach Center that will be collected upon arrival at parade line up. Parade spectators are encouraged to line the route with their lawn chairs to watch the procession as educational, social, civic and business organizations as well as residents all join together to celebrate the holidays. Immediately following the parade, join us at the Lancaster Recreation Center where we will name the parade winners, recognize our Hometown Hero, tree lighting ceremony and kick off this year’s Healthy Heart for the Holidays, Christmas Festival. Stay Protected Against West Nile Virus!


In the recent months, Dallas County Health and Human Services has had several mosquito trap in Lancaster that have tested positive for West Nile Virus. The City of Lancaster has coordinated with Dallas County Health and Human Services to conduct ground spraying for the reported areas.
 
City of Lancaster residents are provided free mosquito dunks at 700 E. Main Street and 211 N. Henry Street while supplies last. This product assists in mosquito control by killing mosquito larvae when applied to water sources. Did you know that Lancaster has implemented mandatory watering restrictions to two days a week? Specific assigned watering days are determined by your address. Residents are restricted from watering between 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Although, hand watering and using soaker hoses are permitted at any time.
