The Planning and Zoning Commission is a statutory board created pursuant to state law and the Lancaster City Code. Members review, hold public hearings, and make recommendations to the City Council regarding requests for change in zoning district classifications, text changes to the city’s zoning ordinance, and permanent zoning to be given newly-annexed areas.

The Planning and Zoning Commission consists of 5 members who are appointed to 2-year staggered terms. Members must be residents of the city. A quorum of at least 3 members must be present prior to commencing a meeting.
