The City of Lancaster recently adopted the Short-Term Rental Ordinance, Ordinance No. 2018-11-45, establishing registration, inspections, minimum property maintenance and safety standards for Short Term Rental facilities. The purpose of this ordinance is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Lancaster by the inspection of short term rental property in the City of Lancaster. If you own or manage one or more short term rental properties please follow the instructions below to get your property registered.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
- If you are the manager or owner of a short term rental property and have not yet registered your property, please complete the attached registration form and return it to the City.
- As soon as your registration application has been accepted and fees paid, you will be scheduled for your initial inspection. Your next regularly scheduled inspection will occur in approximately six (6) months after your registration. Then every June you will be required to pay the annual registration fee of $125.00 and regular inspections will occur every six months accordingly.
- If you have received a letter from the City of Lancaster and are no longer operating a Short Term Rental at the address in our records, please contact the City of Lancaster within 10 days of the receipt of your letter in order to avoid being in violation of this ordinance.
