About the Development Review Committee (DRC)
DRC functions include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensure compliance with current development regulations and previously-approved plans that may affect the development
  • Improve coordination and documentation of public and private improvements
  • Minimize cost of performing construction and future maintenance
  • Minimize inconvenience to drivers, pedestrians, and adjacent property owners
  • Minimize variations in standard utility locations in public rights of way
  • Promote orderly and safe development by establishing uniform and standardized procedures
Regulations & Processes
Development in the City of Lancaster is regulated in order to promote the health, safety, and welfare of current and future citizens. Over the years, regulation and processes have been developed to establish rules for development and the manner in which they are applied.

Project Requirements

Every project must:
  • Have the proper zoning for the intended use
  • Be on a properly-platted lot
  • Have an approved site permit and/or building permit
  • Be inspected during construction
  • Receive a certificate of occupancy
