The Building Inspection Division is established for the purpose of providing minimum standards to safeguard life, health, safety, property, and the public welfare by regulating and controlling the design, construction, quality of materials, occupancy, use, location, and maintenance of all buildings and structures constructed within the City of Lancaster.

Our online permitting system allows you to: estimate permit and plan review fees, apply for permits, request inspections, obtain inspection results, register or renew as a contractor.
The Building Inspection Division also works closely with the Planning Division, Public Works Department, and the Fire Marshal's Office to enhance the city's overall ability to better serve the citizens of Lancaster. Additionally, the division maintains an active demolition program designed to mitigate the spread of blight through the elimination of substandard vacant structures.
2017 National Electrical Code Adopted
The City of Lancaster has adopted the 2017 National Electrical Code effective September 1, 2017.
