You must be 18 years old, have a valid Texas driver's license and fill out the adoption agreement. State law requires that all pets adopted from an animal shelter be spayed or neutered and vaccinated against Rabies.
There is no guarantee that an animal will go up for adoption. Evaluation of an animal for adoption can take up to several days.
We also hold animals for a variety of other reasons. Due to the nature of some of these situations, we cannot give out information as to why an animal is not available for adoption. Once an animal becomes available for adoption, there is no set timeframe for when they will be taken in by a new family. We are committed to caring for the animal until a suitable forever home is found.
The Lancaster Animal Shelter reserves the right to refuse an adoption.
