The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for Lancaster residents by providing guidance on park development, recreation programs, and open space planning. The PRAB works closely with the City Council to ensure that parks and recreation resources meet the needs of the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Parks and Recreation Plan: The PRAB assists in creating and updating the city's Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan to guide future development and resource allocation.
- Program and Facility Evaluation: The Board evaluates existing park facilities, programs, and services to identify areas for improvement and expansion.
- Community Engagement: The PRAB fosters community involvement by gathering input on park needs and preferences.
Board Composition:
The PRAB consists of five (5) regular members with one (1) alternate appointed by the City Council.
Recommended Qualifications:
- Experience in park planning, design, or management
- Knowledge of recreation programming and trends
- Understanding of community needs and demographics
- Passion for outdoor recreation and healthy lifestyles
Meetings and Terms:

- Terms: Board members serve two-year terms, with the alternate member serving a one-year term.
