About the Property Standards & Appeals Board
The board is charged with the protection of the health, safety, morals, and welfare of the citizens of Lancaster. The board must also establish minimum standards applicable to residential and non-residential structures. The board’s decisions are authoritative in nature.
The Property Standards and Appeals Board has 5 regular members and 1 alternate member who serve pursuant to state law and the Lancaster City Code. Members must be residents of Lancaster and must be qualified by experience, common knowledge, and / or training regarding matters of construction and the provisions of the Housing and Substandard Building Code.
