The City of Lancaster is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy outlines how we collect, use, and safeguard personal information provided through our website and related digital services.

Public Information and Privacy Statement

Information collected and received through the City of Lancaster’s website may become public record and, therefore, may be subject to disclosure under the Texas Public Information Act (Texas Government Code Chapter 552).

It is the policy of the City of Lancaster that no personal information you provide to us—including, but not limited to, your name, address, telephone number, driver's license number, Social Security number, or email address—will be sold or rented to any entity or individual. Additionally, such information will not be disclosed to any unauthorized person or organization.

Any release of personal information by the City is limited to authorized City departments, agents acting on behalf of the City, or other governmental entities as required by state or federal law, regulation, or court order.

MyLancasterTX Mobile App Privacy Policy

The City of Lancaster uses the MyLancasterTX app, powered by SeeClickFix, as an online and mobile service request platform. This tool allows residents to report non-emergency issues directly to the City using their smartphone, tablet, or computer.

SeeClickFix is a public application. Any descriptions or details submitted in a request may be visible to the public. Your display name will also be shown unless you choose the "Anonymous" option when submitting a report. Please note that while your email address is required for communication purposes, it will never be made publicly visible.

Information We Collect

We may collect personal information such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, and location data when you submit forms, use the MyLancasterTX app, or interact with city services online. We also collect non-identifying technical data (e.g., browser type, IP address) to help improve website functionality.

How We Use Information

Information is used to respond to requests, provide city services, analyze usage trends, and improve digital experiences. We do not sell personal data.

Information Retained and How It Is Used

When you visit the City of Lancaster’s website, certain information is automatically collected and retained to help us improve user experience and website performance. If you simply browse the site or download information, the following data may be stored:

  1. Internet Protocol (IP) Address: Your IP address (not your email) may be collected and used to count unique visits to specific web pages within a given time frame. This helps the city assess website traffic and determine how pages are used, which informs future design and content delivery.

  2. Web Browser Information: The type and version of web browser used (e.g., Chrome, Edge, Safari) are recorded. This helps ensure that our website content is accessible and properly displayed across different browsers.

Correspondence and Surveys

If you engage further with the site—such as by participating in a survey or sending an email—the following additional information may be collected:

  1. Email Correspondence: When you send an email to the city, your email address and the contents of your message are collected. This information is used to respond to your inquiry, address any issues you raise, improve City services, or forward your message to the appropriate department or government agency for further action.

  2. Survey Participation: Any information you voluntarily provide in response to a survey will be collected and used for the purpose described in the survey. This may include text responses, as well as audio, video, or graphic materials if submitted.

All information collected through the City of Lancaster website is subject to applicable laws, including the Texas Public Information Act, and may be disclosed unless an exception applies.

Sharing of Information

Your data may be shared with third-party service providers (e.g., SeeClickFix) or other government departments solely to deliver services or as required by law.
